What's Good! 10/26-11/1

It's the most exciting time of year for a lot of sports fans right now. The World Series is about to start, pro and college football are in full swing and the NBA season is starting today! As a die-hard Giants fan, I will not write about the World Series, other than to say I hope they can get it done! (A sweep would be nice, since we are going to the Kings home opener on Monday.) With the parity in the NFL and the BCS in its second week of screwing up this NCAA season, football is about to get more interesting. If that's possible. I'm also excited to see what the NBA season will bring. With all that said, here's what's good!

NFL Week 8
Green Bay (4-3) @ New York Jets (5-1)
The Jets defense will be too tough for Aaron Rodgers and the depleted Green Bay offense.
Tampa Bay (4-2) @ Arizona (3-3)
Arizona's already shaky QB situation is a little more rattled this week after Max Hall went out with dizziness last week. I think Tampa Bay will be able to win this game whether it's Hall or Derek Anderson who gets the start.
Minnesota (2-4) @ New England (5-1)
I don't think the Vikings have any chance of beating the Pats but I'm interested in seeing if the jilted sexter will be able to continue his 291 game consecutive start streak.
Pittsburgh (5-1) @ New Orleans (4-3)
New Orleans will try to bounce back from a 30-17 loss to the Browns, but will run into problems trying to do that against the Steelers, who may be the best team in the NFL this season.
Houston (4-2) @ Indianapolis (4-2)
Houston won the Week 1 matchup between these teams 34-24 at home. Indy will likely get the home win this time around.
College Football Week 9
#16 Florida St. (6-0 AP #16) @ North Carolina St. (6-1)
Christian Ponder will not be enough to keep FSU undefeated. NC State will take this game in a slight upset.
#20 Oklahoma St. (6-1 AP #17) @ Kansas St. (5-2)
Justin Blackmon will likely sit at least this game out for OSU after being arrested on a DUI complaint. I don't see the Cowboys winning this tough match-up without him.

#5 Michigan St. (8-0 AP #5) @ #18 Iowa (5-2 AP #18)
The Spartans will stumble on the road. Which will kill their National Championship hopes.

#6 Missouri (7-0 AP #7) @ #14 Nebraska (6-1 AP #14)
The Tigers will follow up their 36-27 win over Oklahoma with an easier win over Nebraska.
#15 Arizona (6-1 AP #15) @ UCLA (3-4)
UCLA has had a roller coaster season and this week will be one of their ups as they beat the Wildcats.
#8 Utah (7-0 AP #8) @ Air Force (5-3)
These teams usually play close games against each other. Expect more of the same with Utah sneaking away with a road win.
#2 Oregon (7-0 AP #1) @ USC (5-2 AP #24)
Some people think USC will get the upset. I am not one of them. Oregon's offense has been killing everybody and USC will be no different.
NBA
Tuesday 10/26
Miami @ Boston- As you may have heard, the Cavs lost a couple people in the off-season. Now they square off in an opening night showdown. That's right, Shaq vs. Big Z. It seems to me that there is another story line here, but I can't quite figure out what it is. Celtics will take this game. Why? Because hype doesn't win games.
Houston @ LA Lakers- The Lakers will raise their Championship banner and get the new season started off right.
Wednesday 10/27
Sacramento @ Minnesota- I'm looking forward to seeing what Tyreke (sitting this one out serving a 1 game suspension), DeMarcus Cousins and the rest of the upstart Kings can do this year. I'm expecting them to surprise a lot of people. The surprise party starts here. Playoffs? (Jim Mora voice)

Chicago @ Oklahoma City- Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant are always exciting to watch. KD will rumble past the Bulls.

Utah @ Denver- Utah lost Boozer but picked up Al Jefferson. The Nuggets still have Carmelo Anthony. Advantage: Denver.
Friday 10/29
New York @ Boston- The Knicks will be better than last year after adding Amar'e Stoudamire but they still aren't good enough to compete in the East. It'll be interesting to see how close this game will be though. Celtics will take it, but by how much?

Orlando @ Miami- The Big 3 vs. Superman. Howard has "sidekicks" too. Magic all the way in this Florida showdown.

Sunday 10/31
Utah @ Oklahoma City- The battle for third place in the Northwest (Portland 1, Denver 2) starts early. I think Utah will be better than OKC in this game and this season.

Monday 11/1
Portland @ Chicago- Another exciting match-up in this one: Brandon Roy vs. Derrick Rose. Unfortunately for Rose, the Blazers are a better team than the Bulls.

Toronto @ Sacramento- This is the Kings home opener. They should take this game against DeMar DeRozen and DeRaptors.
